My Interests​

Tech​

My level of interest in this is... tumultuous. The advent of AI has greatly negatively affected my interest in tech. Nevertheless, I remain excited when I get a new tech toy or work on my home lab.

weeb Japanese Media​

It's hard to tell what specifically draws me to Japanese writing. I really enjoy the way some anime are directed that I don't really see in Western style animation. The creativity oozing from some of the best works in anime is crazy.

Examples of creative use of animation:

  • This entire Mob Psycho sequence
  • Bocchi The Rock has many, many examples
  • Monogatari with its use of character lensing and funky, borderline nonsensical scenes to keep the audience engaged with what are essentially entire seasons of mostly people talking

Some of the 'weirder' styles in Japanese writing strike a chord with me in a way no Western writing ever has.

Examples:

  • Nisio Isin (the monogatari series)
  • Nasu (Fate Stay Night, the rest of the Nasuverse) writes a lot about abstract concepts

Video Games​

Playing games was my primary source of entertainment growing up. The ones I enjoyed the most are

That's obviously a non-exhaustive list but it gives you an idea of the kind of games I like.
